The Jacksonville Youth Engagement Program exists to support the mental and physical development of young people in the Jacksonville Illinois community. We work to ensure that every child has access to positive experiences by funding inclusive recreation, sports, arts, mentoring, and enrichment opportunities. Our goal is to reduce financial barriers so that every young person can learn, grow, and participate regardless of their family’s income.
JYEP provides grant funding to local organizations that serve children and teens. These grants help cover participation fees, equipment, facility use, program materials, and other essential costs. Our support allows organizations to open their doors to families who may not have the financial ability to cover the full cost of youth activities. Each year hundreds of young people benefit from programs we help fund, including sports leagues, roller hockey, arts programs, mentoring groups, outdoor enrichment, summer camps, and hands on learning experiences like the Cultivator Club. We focus on expanding access so no child is turned away due to cost.
Through charitable support and community partnerships, JYEP has awarded more than seventy thousand dollars in grant funding across dozens of youth serving organizations. In a single grant cycle, fifteen local groups received support for programs that help young people build skills, stay active, explore creativity, and develop strong social connections. Our funding helps organizations strengthen their work and offer free or low cost opportunities that make a meaningful difference in the lives of families. Public financial records show that JYEP operates with minimal overhead so nearly all resources go directly into youth programs.
The Jacksonville Youth Engagement Program is guided by a volunteer board of community members who are committed to improving opportunities for local youth. Leadership includes individuals such as President Lori Hartz along with a team that reviews funding requests, evaluates community needs, and ensures resources are directed toward programs that offer real value for young people. Our work is supported by donations, partnerships, and community engagement. Together with local organizations, parents, and supporters, we continue to build a stronger and more inclusive future for Jacksonville area youth.
